Yesterday, the 18th November 2012 I attended the Annual Service & Parade at the Cenotaph. Inevitably, the WW2 veterans had thinned since last years parade and we march three abreast instead of six abreast. The pics below show the Southgate contingent assembling on Horseguards, the same unit marching off parade (snapped by a niece who was amongst the spectators) and lastly my family meeting up after the parade. Present were my daughters, two grand-kids and a nephew wearing his dad's medals on his right breast. Ron
Thought you might like to see parts of the program distributed to all who attended the service & parade on Sunday 18/11/12 Ron
That time of the year again and taking place on Sunday 17th November 2013, one week after the National Remembrance Parade. For the first time that I can remember, my branch led the parade and the reviewing officer was Hon Rear Admiral HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO I've posted a few pics and will post more as they become available. Ron
Lofty Thanks I've been attending the Parade since 1947 and think I have only had to miss two occasions. You might be interested to see this list of reviewing officers, Ron
A formidable list of people, but you take the biscuit for consistency Mr Goldstein. Again well done. Best Regards lofty
The Jewish Military Museum's Sarah Fairhurst, writing on: http://sarahfairhurstjmm.wordpress.com/2013/11/18/remembering-those-who-have-fallen/?blogsub=confirming#subscribe-blog has just published a first class report on the Annual Remembrance Parade. If you look closely at the first batch of marching veterans you might spot me in the front rank Ron
Picked up this old (2009) thread to make a brief report on yesterday's AJEX Parade. Bad weather (cold & blustery) plus advancing years meant that it was a low turnout, at least as far as ww2 veterans on parade and I looked in vain for old comrades. Photo courtesy of one of my ever supportive daughters and no doubt there will be more to follow taken by my grandson
Yesterday, Sunday 17/11/19, with the help of my eldest daughter and her family, I was able to attend the AJEX Annual Remembrance service. It was bitingly cold but I was suitably dressed for the occasion as the pic shows. More pics when I get them Ron
Still waiting for the official photos but thought you might like this pic of my No.1 daughter who helped so much to get me on parade. Sod's law dictated that as I wrote this update up should come the Official Photos of the day. Worth a look if you have the time ……. https://www.facebook.com/pg/ajexheadoffice/photos/?tab=album&album_id=633612993349009
Just watched the AJEX Remembrance Ceremony 2020 on YOUTUBE. If you are interested in seeing how they coped with the ceremony in these terrible Covid times, have a look at the YOUTUBE version on www.youtube.com/AJEX_JMA Includes Very interesting Newsreel shot of General Montgomery reviewing the parade Ron
