Would anyone recognise this officer from the Royal Welch Fusiliers?

The photo was apparently taken in 1941, at which time this gent was a Lieutenant, and was commanding the Signals Platoon of a battalion of the RWF.

I would be keen to find out the identity of the officer and the battalion with which he was then serving.

    Any insights most welcome!

I have come across a photo of officers of 4th RWF here 4th Bn RWF

The officer in question resembles a gent in the centre of the group (middle row, 4th from the left), however the resolution of the photo is not very high. Would anyone know where to find a higher resolution version of that photo?

    Hi

In 1941 there was about 10 Battalions of the RWF and each Battalion could have as many as 30 Lieutenants serving at the time.

Is there anything else that could help reduce the number?

Do you know where this chap might have severd (eg. NWE, MEF, BEF, CMF, etc)?

Does anyone have the field return of officers for any RWF Btn in 1941? Is the Signals Platoon Commander mentioned?

    Hi Gus

Yes, this is the challenge!

He was quite probably serving with one of the battalions in 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division, which - IF this was indeed the case - would narrow it down to 4th, 6th and 7th RWF. This is why I checked the aforementioned website, where I found the group photo of officers, including the chap who looks like a possible match.

    Hi

Maybe you should post the entire group photo (or at least a link to it).

More chances then of someone on the forum recognising someone else and maybe the RWF Battalion in question.

I am now confident that he is from one of the battalion's of 53rd (Welsh) Division, and, more specifically, the 4th or 6th Battalions RWF.
