On Tuesday 21 January 8.15pm CET, The French/German TV channel broadcasts a documentary based on a BBC film. (Title not known to me) I looked into it and it looks very interesting.
ARTE documentaries typically are produced in both language. May be this one byMark Hayhurst is in English subtitles.

Also on PBS in North America the same day, as part of the 'Secrets of the Dead' series.

    Hi, klambie,

what is the general view of history minded folks about this subject in North America?

Kevin may offer an opinion but I suspect that the subject is not widely known in North America, even among historically minded people.

PBS is very well regarded and generally operates to a high journalistic standard. My assumption is that they wouldn't air anything but a credible documentary. Meanwhile, on the History Channel, we can watch Lost Gold of WW2 or Ancient Aliens.

    Stefan,

Not sure which subject you are asking me about. The pros/cons of bombing Auschwitz? Probably little known that this was considered or that evidence was available in early 1944.
