A few pictures of the A26 Invader, top one from winter 1978 and the second one in the summer of 1979.
One year later she crashed at the Battle of Britain display at Biggin Hill killing all seven on board.
At the time we used to get a few flights a year in the vintage planes and being young and thinking yourself invincible just didn't appreciate that it was probably a bit risky, I was promised a flight in her having spent a bit of time in the winter of 79 doing some internal cleaning and general low key maintenance on her.
After the crash things were tightened up a fair bit, no displays directly over the crowds on air days, no beat up of the airfield on days when it was just us volunteer's watching and no multiple passengers on board during displays.
