Afternoon, I have an original cardboard medal box containing four WW2 Medals - see attached photos. The box is addressed to a WH Buckle in Leeds. Grateful if anyone can identify who WH Buckle is/was; I believe it might be 899405 Acting L/Sgt W H Buckle Royal Artillery - he seems to be the only Buckle who has been awarded the Burma Star. Appreciate if someone could confirm this - might even be able to get the medals back to his family. Regards Bruneval
Found the correct man:- William Hird Buckle of Flat 6, Allerton Lodge, Falkland Mt Leeds died 27 October 1981, Probate Leeds 26 February 1982. Buried Garforth St Mary, 3 November 1981. His dob was 15 Sept 1913.

Perhaps a way forward is to see who applied for probate and hope that any will named family members. It was 36 years ago but there could be useful information. Find a will | GOV.UK

I Know this Post Is From a couple of Years ago.. But to my knowledge William's Deceased sister Hilda Knowles Formerly Buckle, Still Has a living Son William Hird Buckle is my 3× Gt Cousin Regards.
