Hi Jane-still not sure when I'll be visiting next. I'm guessing around July but I thought I'd start copying again in October last year so who knows.

Do you plan to do back-orders from last year, or is it a clean slate and start from scratch?

I don't know until archive reopen proper and see what the restrictions are. I'm probably going to have to introduce a minimum fee once I start again. Nothing is certain yet and I still have to figure out child care to go.

    Hi Andy

A few years ago you kindly provided me with copies of War Diaries for elements of the "Beauman Division".

I know that you have most of the Diaries relating to 1939/40 but do you have a copy of "WO167/1412 - Beauman Division: Headquarters", in your archives by any chance? If so, we can arrange via PM re cost etc.

    Kind regards
    Steve a.k.a. sjw8

Do you have on hand copies of war diaries of the 2nd Durham LI at any point from 1942-5? Just received some university funding, but not allowed to travel yet with those funds. Thank you,
    Andrew

One of the most iconic scenes from the whole of Dad's Army. Reminded me of this hilarious introductions on Celebrity Mastermind that Rick Wakeman and Ian Lavender were on. The file is too big to upload but here's the link if anyone would like to see it - OH it worked! :D

I wonder if you might be able to get hold of the war diary for 6th Bn Seaforth Highlanders 1943-1945?
I went up to Fort George where they had photocopies of the war diary, but only every second month. The archivist wasn't entirely helpful, it wasn't clear if the problem was with the photocopying missing out the months, or if the original diaries were at fault.
My dad served from Anzio to NW Europe. At this point 6 Bn Seaforth are part of 5th Infantry Division, so after Anzio, they went back to Palestine/Lebanon, then up the Rhone Valley to join the final push into Germany.
    Thanks in advance.
Allan Cameron. (Also my Dad's name).

    Hi there,
I am looking for information on 100th anti-tank RA, in Burma/India (Gordon Highlanders 8th Battalion), particularly the war diaries.
Do you have copies of WO172/7382, WO172/2276 and WO172/4620? Is this something I could commission you to copy for me at all?
    Many thanks, regards,
    Dave.

My grandad was an officer in 169 Battery at the relief of Kohima and was wounded in February 45, maybe crossing the Irrawady. I have the published regimental history, and he gets a mention, but it is sketchy to say the least......

Hi Andy, do you have copies of the following war diaries for the 3rd Kings own hussars ?

    WO 166/1376 3 King's Own Hussars 1939 Sept.-Nov.
    WO 169/216 3 King's Own Hussars 1940 Sept.- Dec.
    WO 169/1385 3 King's Own Hussars 1941 Jan.- Mar., May-Dec.

The period I'm specifically looking at is April 1941 but looking at the listing, that month appears missing. Would you have any idea why this would be the case?

    Cheers
    Andy

Hi Andy I am looking for the war diaries relating to my fathers service, it sounds like you might have them or be able to copy them for me?. He was in the 22nd Armoured Brigade within the 7th Armoured division on detachment to the 143 Field Park Squadron from 1944 to the end of the war ( in a bridge laying tank) I can find 143 field Park Squadron war diaries but only from Jan 1946- March. (WO171/9523)
    Thanks Jill Tate

Hi Owen I am able to go but am unsure which record I am looking for. I would be happy to pay a consultation fee for help.
    Thanks Jill

Hi Jill, do you mean he was detached from 143 Field Park Sqn to 22nd Armoured Brigade as part of the crew of the brigade’s bridge-laying tank? I’ve got bits of the Bde war diary for 1944 and will take a look later to see if there any details of the bridge-layer.

    Regards

    Tom

Hi Tom i'm not sure which ? He was in a small unit of 3 Scissor bridge laying tanks. His diary says he was 'attached' to 143 Field park Squadron who were responsible for laying Bailey Bridges. I think the first bridge he laid was in Livarot between 17th - 28th August as the 7th Armoured Division were involved with pushing toward the Seine.
    Thanks for your help
    Jill
