Can't let the day pass without posting something. He was never going to make 80, and we'll never see his like again.

One guy almost did............Eric Gales. Playing here with Hendrix's old rhythm section in The New Band of Gypsies.
    He is still around.

Saw him play live in '68. I remember I ate too many brownies.

What would JH be doing now or just a few years ago?
Eric Gales might offer some of the answers.
After having problems with drug use (Just after the Foxy Lady performance), he moved on.
He has performed with many different musicians around the world playing All sorts of genres.
Much of it progressive Jazz based.
However (as would JH) he is pushed into performing the old songs.
This link is part of a performance which seemingly ends with Purple Haze as a finale:
Havent listened to him for years.

Saw Hendrix at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1971.
But was smitten by a new act:
    Taste (with Rory Gallagher).

    OK Hendrix Fans!
When and where was this recorded. It wasn't as some think, the BBC Lulu Show.
Some say Stockholme but the MC sounds English.

It's not very often you see him playing a Gibson SG.
Its strung lefthanded too, so it wasn't just picked up for a jam with his mate Eric Clapton.

    First time I've seeen it.

The only thing I have watched on iplayer is SAS Rogue Heroes, lost count of how many times.
Now I have something else to watch when everyone is abed and the old Husky can't sleep.
One thing about retirement you get 24 hours to do what you want.
Except for house repairs, shopping, vacuuming, taking a son to the gym late at night because the equipment is available, and any other job nobody else wants to do.
They moan if I get my old 100Watt Laney Bass Amp out and give it a hammering. I sold the 700Watt Peavey Firebass some years ago. The Laney is for practicing on.

Glad I highlighted the program. I've just semi-retired (in July) after 41 years in the sports ground management industry. Found it strange at first (mentally) and put on a bit of weight straight away. I am now working for two days a week as a Post Office Christmas Casual and really like it. Would love to be able to play the guitar or piano, perhaps that can be my next venture!!

    I retired in 2014 aged 66 from Engineering/Sales & Marketing.
Music was in my mother's family. My grandfather taught the Zither, Banjo and Mandolin.
He played the piano by ear as did one of my aunts.
My mother went berserk when I packed up the piano but I took up Bass Guitar at school when a load of us started to set up bands.
They all wanted to play lead guitar except two who played drums. so I had a Bass Guitar for Christmas in 1961.
She was right of course, I should have stayed with the piano.

Approaching Midnight last night switched over to iplayer.
Surprisingly the aging Husky went off to sleep. So I sat Brandy glass in hand, to watch the Hendirx film.
Good bits but confusing (sure it wasn't the Brandy) I ended up fast forwarding bits.
It reminded me of the chaotic things from The Beatles in their hippy era.
One guy thought he a saw a spaceship. A lady involved in the making of the film also mentioned it.
Hendrix came across sensible and relatively clear of substances. He looked to be the soberest one there.
I think I recognised the bass player. Who was the manic longhaired drummer.
I must look again sometime, without the Brandy, just in case.
