Hi all, I keep tripping over 5.5 inch guns. Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson have one now, IWM have one though I suspect they may have had their's a while.

IWM online have a number of pictures of 5.5 inch guns and AEC Matador's in Northern Europe without saying which regiments they belong to. Any ideas?

Also is this us night firing?

    Hi OP-researcher

I know this last post was in 2010 and I'm not sure if you will get an alert or if I have to wait for you to come back to this site to see it, but I have a question/possible comment. I live in the U.S. and I bought a German book that had a signature inside the cover. I'm doing some research which led me to this site. It's difficult to read but it appears to be from a Major Mellor in the 10th Medium Regiment RA (RF) BAOR. Below is a pic of the writing. Any Insight? Was Hanover,Germany one of their stations?

    Thanks

    Hi S Lush
To answer your question, Yes the regt were established in the Hanover area in 45/46 & Mjr/Cpt Mellor was a late arrival officer to the regt.
As i hold an extensive archive of the regt & my father was an NCO in 84Bty if you have any more questions or need the details of the above, please do PM me.

PS. your HTML attachments do not open from this site?

Hello & greetings from Australia. Just a quick question to ask where I can obtain a copy of the book by Rob of the 10th Medium (RF) RA "Arty boys"? I've tried various online bookstores and the local libraries here without much luck?

I also have two copies of the "FLASH", one dated March titled Flash 84 and the other named "As in War So in Peace" with the three flags of UK, USA & Russia. any ideas how we should be preserving these for the future?

    Thanks

Hello, I have just come across this page and really glad I have.
I am researching my family history and am now in possession of my fathers soldiers release book & his service pay book.
On the release certificate it states my father Adam Innes Brown 918323 was in the 10th Med regt RA(RF), he was a WS/Sgt and the certificate is dated Winsen Germany 23/3/1946 then stamped 12/4/1946.
his service book says he was originally enlisted at Fraserburgh Scotland on 16/5/39 in the TA.
my father passed away some time ago & rarely spoke of his service, other than his army pal Bill from Durham, who I met when a child.
I have picked up a little about the regiment through google research but any other detail or pointers are most welcome.
I also have the medal sheet which states he was awarded 4 medals but the family are not in possession of these.
Many thanks to anyone who can assist and enlighten me further as to his service etc,
    Alison

    Hi Alison
Great to hear from a relative of another member of the regiment.
As you may have seen, I hold an archive of the 10th Med Regt & have published a regimental history.
Give me time to get to my files & see if I have your dad on the nominal role & I will PM you on here & we can sort your dads history with the Regt & answer all your questions.
    Best regards
    Rob
