Hello Barb20, I'm not sure how you came across the information that the 11th Battalion embarked for North Africa in October 1942?
I've attached two scans from The War History of The Royal Fusiliers 39-45. Please see the contents page, chapter 3. They did not have a happy ending. They did go to France as part of the Bruneval Raid on the 27th February 1942.

    Regards
    Stu.

    Hi Stu
Thanks for the info. Perhaps I am reading his Service Records wrong and so I will take another look, but my understanding was that he joined Fusiliers on 11.5.39. Attended a cooks course and transferred to ACC but permanently attached to 11th Battalion on 4.4.42. In Sept 1943 he became attached to 2 Battalion Parachute Regiment. Then on 4.1.44 he disembarked from NA with 2 Para. I am waiting for my granddaughter to show me how to post his records on the site so that I can get more experienced advice.

Lets hope your granddaughter gets a jog on with the service records. When dryan67 gets to see them, I'm sure he will be able to translate them. Others will add there bit.

Thanks Dryan. I have indeed just noted that he was with 2/8 Battalion on enlistment at Handel Street on 11/5/39. Embodied with 11th on 2/9/39 and transferred from 11th to ACC on 4.4.42 permanently attached to 11th. Then NA 30.10.42. Then 3.9.43 attached to 2 Para Batt. And so I guess this in when he would have transferred?

Dryan my granddaughter is about to post the Service Records I referred to but I think they are under Airborne. I am sorry I am unable to manoeuvre my way around the site correctly. Doesn't take much to confuse me, especially as I am working between an iPad and a laptop!
