I would be surprised. It is a London centric Regt sponsored at the time by the Middx Regt who provided Regular instructors.

That makes more sense. The Manchester Regiment were also a Machine Gun regiment - six Regiments were switched to this specific role in the mid-30s in order to create Infantry Division Machine Gun Battalions, so it is likely that he started as a Manchester and as a trained Vickers Medium Machine Gunner or 4.2 inch Mortarman he would have been posted where most needed - in this case the Kensingtons.

His Regimental Number, you have it, is likely to be from the batch allocated to the Manchesters.

General Service Corps was a holding organisation before the individual was allocated a Regiment.

Unless you've won the lottery, I wouldn't recommend paying TNA prices for war diaries.

It is free to visit and copy your own documents, yes. Always has been.

It isn't free to ask the TNA to copy them for you.

    Headancer.

You would do well to ask Gary Tankard to source the WDs that you need from Kew. He knows his way around and that is half the battle.

His rates are also very reasonable.

    Regards
