Hi HC, you all well? Nice spot on Ebay, tempted by his memoirs. Some other items from the same seller up too. Seasons Greetings
I just wish I could figure that, me ol' B43... (The memoirs are the most interesting item by far, but well out of my league at present... as is usual, sad that such items are let go by family...)
You right HC. The memoirs are perhaps something I should seriously look at winning on behalf of the Chindit Society.
Adding up all the bits and pieces, the items came to just over £620!! As always, sad to see them all split up like this as it is unlikely that the same buyer won each and every item.
Just to tidy this thread up. Three more items from the George Hill collection were sold today on eBay, raising another £200 or so.
Yes, I would have liked to had sight of the memoir. I have a family contact whose Chindit was serving with 16th Brigade, Queen's Columns and has never found out what happened to him in 1944. This might have shed some light on the incident.
