Hello, does anybody have any information on the position of the 17th field regiment, royal artillery in may 1940, particularly around the 21st?

    Thanks in advance!

In Farndale's Years of Defeat, Sketch map No 9 shows the artillery dispositions on 20th May at the Escaut position. 17 Field are shown as SSE of Bailleul map square H8838 on this map Belgium - 1:250,000 - 1:50,000 - 1937-44 - National Library of Scotland However, this is a misprint as 17th Field Regiment were p[art of the divisional artillery of the 51st Highland Division which was serving with the French army on the Saar front NE of Metz in front of the Maginot line fort of Hackenberg..RHQ was at Hombourg-Boudange with forward troops only a few miles from the German border. Years of Defeat p40 says that the unit fired the first British shots on the western front and on 17th May moved to St Michel and 10/26 battery to Laumesfield
