Just made a 80 page hardback book to keep the veh signs in, i could not put the original front cover on it as i dont have a high res scan of it. so off to the printers to get my copy made. Bottom photo of original front cover.

Brilliant stuff! Thank you for sharing.

Some of my particular favorites:
- CRASC 41 Tpt Colmn using an image of "The Saint" from the adventure novels of Leslie Charteris
- 451 Coy RASC (Tank Transporter, I assume) - the elephant carrying a Churchill is so evocative!
- 279 Coy Army Transport - it evokes a man rolling up his sleeves to do some heavy lifting

 

Can anyone help with more information of my Grandad's unit. I have a load of his photos from North Africa. Where would be the best place to share these? Love the fact that even in the height of war they had time to print Christmas Menu's......

 

Hi Gary, You could put a new thread up with the info of your grandad and see what comes up, do you have his name and army number and pay book + add his photos.
His unit sign is not in the CMF book, could you send me a higher res of it and i could add it to the other unit signs.

WO 229/51 has a July 1943 message on the general subject. The file is downloadable from Kew free of charge. It is divided into five parts for download. A 240 MB download in all. Other more relevant material might be found in the files. This is in part 5 at page 130.
