    Hi All,

I am trying to find information on a Royal Ulster Rifle guy from Normandy, unfortunately very limited information.

the background is a piece of equipment of a RUR guy found in Normandy with the last 4 digits of his serial number 7757.

I do not believe he was killed or wounded (as it seems this number does not appear)

map any help or assistance of where to look would be much appreciated

    thanks

His number might not be of the RUR if he served with another regiment before joining them.

    Hi,
Yes, agreed that could be the case, but was definitely 1St RUR for Normandy

    thanks

After checking the Casualty lists for a partial number the closest I could get was Rfn T A Stratford 7022757 Royal Ulster Rifles wounded on 10th June 1944 whilst attached to 4 Commando

    Hi Horsapassanger,

so in further research there is no appropriate match with the numbers. Re-examining the numbers it is in fact just 775. The last mark which appears to be a 7 is what looks like a mark in the leather.

So I wanted to ask if there maybe any 1st RUR with the last 3 digits in their serial number of 775 in any of the casualty lists for Normandy.

    thank you

    Hi All,

I now have a list of 4 possible matches for the guy I am looking for. These 4 all served with the Royal Ulster Rifles, but now need to determine if any of these were in 1st Battalion for D-Day.

Would anybody have any information that would assist me?

    6978775 J Lynn
    2701775 W M Patterson
    7022755 M Kane

    Thanks

J Lynn is on casualty list as Missing 16/11/43, Middle East, Aegean, 2nd Batt, Royal Irish Fusiliers. Later reported not missing. None of others on casualty lists.
