    Steve,

a copy would be fine and, if you have them, the period around 9th-15th February1945 as there is also an aerial photograph of a riverside village, dated 11th February, that obviously has some significance; almost certainly somewhere around Nyaungu.

I am happy to let you have scans of all the 1st Burma Regiment documents that I have. I will send you my email address by PM.

    Simon.

I looked at the officers in the undated list for a bit of fun, to see if anything might date the list. Going by some of the dates attached to certain officers, the list might date to early 1945 - before March perhaps.

1st Battalion, The Burma Regiment - Officers

Lt. Colonel A.S. Lewis - took command 10th October 1944; left the Battalion 29th June 1945

Major K.L. Hales - ABRO 80; last mentioned in war diary in April 1945

    Major K.A.J. Gorvett - wounded 5th March 1945

    Major P.F. Taylor - ABRO 95

    Major H.M. Gray - nil

    Major A.d’o.d.A. Aplin - left 10th July 1946

Captain D.M. Coshan - ABRO 602, returned from leave and marriage, 5th August 1945

    Captain L. Bronitsky - left 22nd May 1945

Captain F.Y. Deardon (Dearden?) - arrived as reinforcement, 11th March 1944

    Lieutenant J. Barnes - left 29th November 1945

    Lieutenant A.A. Higgins - wounded 7th March 1945

Lieutenant Tufail Ahmed - left 28th March 1946

    Lieutenant J.A. Jolliffe - nil

    2nd Lt. G.E. Bowyer - arrived as reinforcement 12th November 1944

Lieutenant Santa Singh - promoted to Captain 16th July 1944 and appointed Administration Company Commander

    Steve,

many thanks for the update. I had basic information on most of these officers and a visit to your website has added a lot more.

    Lieutenant J A Jolliffe was John Alexander Jolliffe, EC.13547.Commissioned 16th April 1944.

The attached document is an undated assessment of battalion strength.

Thanks for posting the all the above. I've been waiting for a PM so as to send you a link to the war diary. Hope I hadn't missed it.
