Hello, is anyone aware of the existence of a nominal roll for the 2 Lancashire Fusiliers for the period they were in France and Belgium '39-'40?

I am particularly interested in trying to find out the company of Fus. Christopher Ayres 3853320.

The closest I have found are some acquittance rolls which cover some of the men and their companies, which I am happy to share here if anyone is interested.

It's very rare to see nominal rolls of other ranks in regular army infantry battalion war diaries. I've seen it quite a bit in Territorial diaries. Sometimes at mobilisation, but also on evacuation from France..None of which helps you, of course.

    Thanks Rich.
I presume territorial diaries are held at kew? There might be some clues there somewhere.
Do you know what reference numbers they fall under?

The 2nd Battalion were regulars. It's odd (or maybe not, as I'm not all that consistent in my researches) but I've never been able to establish what records were kept by the regular army between 1918 and 1939. There must have been journals. Where are they ? There were exercises and for most regiments, always one battalion overseas (mostly India) and one at home...I've tried and found nothing.
