204444 Nigel Clive Cosby TRENCH, MiD, KRRC - which Battalion?

Trying to do some research on 204444 Nigel Clive Cosby Trench who was commissioned in the KRRC (LG 3/10/41) and was Mentioned in Despatches 8/11/45 for service in N W Europe - any idea what Battalion he served in or in general anything on his service?

In 1966 he was appointed Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, in 1976 he was Knighted and in 1990 he became 7th Baron Ashtown Nigel Trench, 7th Baron Ashtown - Wikipedia

According to Swift and Bold. History of KRRC in WW2 he was in the 12th battalion.

He is mentioned about being greeted by extatic crowds when Beauvais was liberated and he had just become CO A Coy.

The previous page mentions Major R R H James death who was the previous CO A Coy and you should be able to put a date to this from cwgc.

But that's it I am afraid.

Ideal, its just led me to another thread that mentions Major James and leads to a page which has Nigel Trench in Beauvais - as there are no records on findmypast casualty returns of him being wounded I guess he went all through with them, an achievement for an Infantry Officer - thanks again

 

I wonder if this RA attestation is him, name transcribed as Olive but possibly a misread Clive?

 

Yup that's him, I have just got his Service Book which relates to his RA days and while he was going through OCTU - cheers
