"The remnants of No. 2 and No. 4 Companies were amalgamated into one company called No. 2, and were commanded for the day by Lieutenant Edward RAWLENCE, normally the Transport Officer, but now the only available officer."
page 451, The Liberation of Brussels
" Captain E. RAWLENCE, the 3rd Battalion Transport Officer, had a terrible day racing up and down the column in a jeep, keeping it closed up, repairing breakdowns and changing trailers from one overloaded truck to another."
    page 479, The Escaut Canal
"Meanwhile, Captain E.E. RAWLENCE, the 3rd Battalion M.T. Officer, was lying semi-conscious in an ambulance. He was still concussed from a collision on a motor-cycle the day before, but the noise of the firing brought him from his stretcher. He borrowed a Piat and, without telling anybody, started out to stalk the self-propelled gun. He did not come back. A bullet or a splinter must have hit the Piat bomb he was carrying, for he was killed instantly. The German attack petered out to a failure and they withdrew to De Luyken, where they were later caught by a Grenadier column working up from the south."

"Captain EDWARD ERNEST RAWLENCE, Irish Guards, who came to Wellington in 1935 was Head of the Lynedoch before he left in 1940, a quiet but efficient Head. He worked in the Y.M.C.A. when he left Wellington and was with the Forestry Commission at Camberley until he joined up at the Guards Depot, Caterham, in June, 1941. He went on to Sandhurst and was commissioned in the Irish Guards that December. Until D-Day Rawlence had fought his way into Belgium, where he fell fighting on the Scheldt Canal on September 11th, 1944. He was mentioned posthumously in dispatches."

I am very proud that I could find relatives of cap. Rawlence so I could give him a good commemoration in my latest book.
