    Hi everyone,

A relative of mine was killed on the 18th of March 1945, he was FLT LIEUT Maurice Hunt. He was a pilot and flying a Lancaster Bomber for 227 Squadron. He is buried in Germany.

Does anyone have any info, or could point me in the right direction to get info on the operational records of this unit. And also the history of 227 Squadron. I understand the markings for this sqn was 9J.

Best regards and thanks in advance for any info relating to this.
    thanks kiwiazza.

    Hi, Kiwiazza.

Try the Commonwealth War Graves Commission first...see if you can locate where he's buried or memorialized.

Welcome to the boards and thank you for your family's service to Crown and Country.

    Hi all.

    WOW !!!

That info is very detailed and quite remarkable. Thank you so much for providing this. Arthur the info you have provided is amazing !!!

I have also located the operations records for 227 squadron at the National archives so I will be ordering those. I will also be getting his service records from the NZ Defense Force records.

Hopefully by the end of my little project I will be able to provide the rest of the family a written document showing FLT LIEUT Hunts military service.

I also intend to visit his grave one day. Thanks again all, we lost him, and I think the best way we can honour him is to document what happened so our children in the family can pass the legend on to future generations.

    Best regards kiwiazza.
