Hi all, the first half of the tour, not very exciting, but all part of the great times we had, and if you look on a map, a bloody long way from home in a 54 year old vehicle, we packed a lot of miles in on that four day trip and the old girl never missed a beat, well it did see part three, coming your way shortly.
By the way the thing I miss most now it gone is the sound of the old girl ,music absolute bloody music, enjoy.

More miles, more people, more towns and villages, even the ambulance decided it needed a break, so died, faking heat exhaustion, and had a ten minute rest, after which time having refused offers of help, we were on our way again, but it took a helpful police car to get us back to the convoy, the Jeep with the stretcher rack was being towed, a long day for that chap,
I have two hours plus of this tour on video and reducing it to 15 minute clips is difficult, but the end is in sight (part four soon includes a Euro babe wearing an unusual T-shirt).
You may notice different drivers in these clips, I took great pleasure in letting others drive the Ambulance, for me it was rewarding to be able to share its joy with others, mind you, one was a Ferrari technician, the other a marine engineer and the one you don't see just hopeless, double de-clutching was beyond him,

Been a little while since the Ambulance moved on to pastures new, but just watched this collection of pictures my friend put together (with some appropriate music) of the day it went, we had some great times with that Ambulance  even the Scammel turned up to say goodbye as 23 years before it had suspend towed the Ambulance all £50 worth, 70 miles to the yard it left from with its new owner, regards lofty

As always thanks for the clip, Parting must have been impossible for you after your incredible journey.

Should have entitled it " The Last Farewell"

Hi all, been a long time since I put anything on this thread but have spent time lately editing the D Day video to add here, pulled out this short clip, thought it might be something that perhaps is not seen to often, the farmer treats this piece the same as the rest of the field but 50 years on nothing grows. I am sure had we asked the right questions, the Frenchman would have known the answers, still it was 18 years ago, and learnt.
Checked the spot on Google maps tonight, time of year is wrong, the crops had just been harvested, hardly visible.

Hi all, thought I would add this bit of footage of a trip out in 2001, not a good video, but some footage of our local cold war bunker, now closed to the public I believe. Not sure if its been emptied , but as you can see it was full to the brim when we went, the video does not do justice to the size of the place, I think it went down about four levels.

Love these old videos of yours Lofty. That's quite an elaborate bunker. It's too bad they never kept it up as the computer equipment alone would still be of interest to many. I couldn't help but notice that one of the jeeps was sporting a Canadian flag ... :)

Its two years and four months since my K2 went to its new owner. Speaking to him recently he said it would be a Rausbey Wartime Weekend in Lincolnshire this weekend. For me and my wife a 240 mile round trip but we decided to go today, The k2 is just as lovely as ever, and I think my wife was a bit upset when she saw her again, however the day got better when we were invited to take it into the vehicle parade in the arena, great to drive her again, all in all a great day and came home happy that she was in good hands.
I have to admit a big old bugger like me found the walk from spotting it in the field to arriving at it hard, "I needed a hand to hold". Me and that ambulance have a lot of love and respect for each other, and as you know many many memories.
My grandson who came along with us, also enjoyed his day and chose to do the arena thing in a half-track.
