Hi, I am researching the me and boys from the WW2 Connah's Quay and Shotton War Memorial and I have a problem with John DUTTON,as I cannot find out why he is on this War Memorial as he seems to be connected to Pentre, Queensferry and would have been on Hawarden especially as he is buried in St. Deniol's Churchyard. I believe that his parents are living in Sandycroft on the 1939 Register. I would also like to know how and why he died in 1946 , possibly from his War Service, but his death was Registered, I think, in Hawarden. I would love to find a connection to Connah's Quay and/or Shotton.

    hello Mavis

He could have a family member there or worked there before the war there are many men on war memorials across the country who appear on another towns war memorial it is not unusual.
His DC would state cause of death .
A very old post here on WW1 forum from G grandaughter might be worth trying to contact her.
    JOHN DUTTON

    regards

Looking at the headstone again this morning, I noticed on the wooden cross the word 'Dad'. I dont know how close the cemetary is from you or when the cross was placed there, but there may be other information written on the wooden cross or perhaps those that work there may have some info/details if you spoke to them face to face

    Its another option

Thank you TD, Harkness and also Clive for all your input, I am contacting the G Grand daughter re John Dutton and also contacted someone else who contacted her as I have information on Francis Woodbine PARRISH who died in 1921. So thank you so much all of you, it's a small world isn't it! I can't afford to buy the DC as I am researching 200 men, so will have to try other methods first. Can't tell you how pleased I am with this Forum, Wonderful. Kindest regards, Mavis
