    1st Guards Brigade, 46th Division, 10 Corps
2614627 War Substantive Sergeant Alexander TREEBY, 3rd Battalion GRENADIER GUARDS

On the night of the 18th / 19th February Sergeant TREEBY was in command of No. 6 Platoon on Point 711 when the Germans launched a Company attack, on his position.

His Platoon bore the brunt of the attack for a considerable period. During this time Sergeant TREEBY was a continual source of inspiration to his Platoon, encouraging them and cheering them on all the time, besides killing four Germans himself. His whole Platoon speak in glowing terms of his leadership and example.

It was subsequently discovered that 40 Germans lay dead in front of his Platoon position.

For outstanding leadership and personal devotion to duty I recumbent that he be given an immediate award of the D.C.M.

    Signed A.G.W. HEBER-PERCY, Lieutenant-Colonel, Commanding 3rd Battalion GRENADIER GUARDS

    Granted an Immediate D.C.M.
