His Platoon bore the brunt of the attack for a considerable period. During this time Sergeant TREEBY was a continual source of inspiration to his Platoon, encouraging them and cheering them on all the time, besides killing four Germans himself. His whole Platoon speak in glowing terms of his leadership and example. It was subsequently discovered that 40 Germans lay dead in front of his Platoon position. For outstanding leadership and personal devotion to duty I recumbent that he be given an immediate award of the D.C.M. Signed A.G.W.
