    201st Guards Brigade, 56th Division, 10 Corps
2618001 War Substantive Corporal, Unpaid Lance-Sergeant Donald Andrew NIXEY, 6th Battalion GRENADIER GUARDS

On 8th November at Point 819 on the CAMINO feature this Lance-Sergeant displayed exceptional powers of leadership and personal bravery.

Although overlooked and submitted to intense enemy fire for 30 hours this Lance-Sergeant held his Section together with the greatest tenacity and succeeded in beating off three enemy counter-attacks.

On 9th November this Lance-Sergeant on his own initiative led his Section under intense enemy fire to reinforce a neighbouring Section post which had become weak through casualties.

His personal example and bravery was an inspiration to his subordinates who responded to his leadership and held on to the important tactical feature of Point 819.

Signed W. KINGSMILL, Lieutenant-Colonel, Commanding 6th Battalion GRENADIER GUARDS

    Granted an Immediate M.M.
