    Interesting, so while hard to make out looks like he went in the bag at Tobruk with most of 11 Ind Bde, and award only processed after release from captivity.

    Thanks for your comments Andreas. The entire file, unfortunately, seems to contain awful scans of the originals.

    That appears to be the usual procedure for POW cases.
    Sometimes it's the other way around - the witness was taken POW and so the award couldn't be processed or even instigated until they were liberated.
