HI, Looking for any information on CSM Bailey, as a CSM I'm hoping he may get a mention in the War Diary and as he has no known grave he may be mentioned in the missing men file (I'm hoping someone has them but if not I'll look to order them). Thanks Alistair

Welsh Guards RoH, WW2 Casualties Might be worth a conversation to dbf to see if she has the WD's you need TD
First thing I did was drop Diane a message, she has had a look a look in the Regimental history which has the below "Other troops attacked in the centre and early on the 22nd of April captured the hills east of the Bou Arada-Goubellat road. The 6th Armoured Division then went through in an effort to force a passage between the mountain which lie to the east of Gocubellat Plain. The Armoured Brigade made good progress along the shore of the salt lake which lies to the north-west of Pont du Fahs, but were brought to a halt by tanks and artillery strongly placed in the rocky hills. Meanwhile the 1st Guards Brigade was deployed, but only the Coldstream Guards were seriously engaged. The Welsh Guards held positions in which they were bombed repeatedly and shelled from time to time, but they were not involved in fighting. The battle had become mainly an armoured contest and, when some ground had been gained and the enemy's armour severely crippled, General Alexander decided to break off the fight and to concentrate all his available force on a final and decisive attempt to take Tunis from the direction of Medjez el Bab. So the 1st Guards Brigade moved northwards again to the Medjerda valley with the rest of the 6th Armoured Division." So a start but more detail would be good Alistair
