Hi, I have obtained this item amongst a bulk lot of memorabilia, but I'm having no luck researching it at all..... So hoping on some help from you guys on this one if you could?

It is about 2 1/2 feet long, and quite heavy too

Stamped on the side is 28LB NO5 MK1 HEL 1V79

It has TRANSIT & DROPPING point on it too

Thats pretty much all I have, thanks for any information in advance

Its an RAF 28lb practice bomb used from the 1970s untill the mid 1990s, on impact it emitted Flash and Smoke from the tail

It should be Oxford blue and have a frangible plastic cap. We have a few at work, I'll get a photo.

Hi, yes its a shame its missing the tail and fuse cap, i will keep an eye to see if I can get hold of them. Unusual that its been painted black, the 79 stamped on it must be the year then.
