Alex, I only have the above book that I have attached in my post 6. It mainly concerns itself principally with the story of the 2 Battalion of The Bedfords, and 1 Battalion of the Hertfords. I attach some scans for your viewing. If I can give you a little bit of advice, its probably not wise to plaster your e-mail address in any post (start a conversation). I'm sure others would agree.

1st Bn Hertfordshire Regiment was in 66 Brigade.

That was a TA unit associated with the Beds & Herts.

    Ok,
I'm not sure if we've crossed lines, I have the history of the Beds and Herts regiment ( 1st and 2nd battalion)
I don't have any knowledge on the TA units from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, I have the cap badge book as previously posted on here.

Alex, I was thinking along the same lines has I was typing my last post. No problem. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the the 2 volumes by Lt. Col. Barrow. & what years do they cover? Also, what is the title of 1 & 2 Battalion of the Beds &
    Herts?

I was lucky enough to pay nothing. They were given to me by an ex B/H officer who having had them in his book case decided he didn't need them anymore.
I know it covers the 5th (TA) battalion in Singapore (?) but will have to see if it covers the other TA units. Are you searching for anything in particular ?

Alex, I'm not not looking for anything in particular, It was just a case of adding them to my collection. I'm not sure where Paul has come across them for £80 ish, the ones that i have seen are going for hideous amounts. I'm probably looking in the wrong places.

Alex, it looks has if you landed on your feet when you where given them books. If possible, can you please scan me the the front cover, & the content pages of volume 2?

Thanks Paul, I had clocked that price. Probably the next best price. Its still a serious amount of coin for one book (Volume 11 1914-1958). One day I may come across the book being sold on its own, or i could go down another avenue.

As you say Stuart, quite expensive. I did see a copy for £320!!!
My interest is pretty limited and is for the time my Dad spent in the Regiment. He joined up I believe in 1940 and went to Tunisia in 1943 with the 2nd Bn. He was shot and mortared and so badly wounded on 6 May that he went back through the medical system and in Dec 43 was invalided out. The only places he ever mentioned is Cromer and leaving on a ship for Tunisia from Scotland.
My main interest would be in the War Diary for the operation on or around May 6 when day was wounded, just to see if he is mentioned.
I was a Junior Leader at Oswestry, then Kings Own Border, then SASC, total time almost 25 years

Alex, nice one. I do appreciate your time. I misted the fact that the book that Paul provided in his link was soft cover, or paper back. No book of that size should be in that format. Another insult is the prices.. Will go done another avenue that I have.

    Regards

    Hi Stu
I have just come across this forum and am researching local casualties for a local history group and wondered if you had the War Diaries and book scan for April 1943 as we have a Private Albert Stephen George Harris who died 13 April 1943 age 20 and would liek to add more to his story.

    Cheers
    Steve
