318 Battery, 73 LAA Regiment, Royal Artillery trench incident, Dover: 09/11/1942

    CL1 116th LAA and 92nd (Loyals) LAA,Royal Artillery

    Whilst searching for something else came a across an incident 9/11/42
    A shell fired from the French coast landed in a trench at Reach Court,Dover killing 11 Royal Artillery servicemen.
    I found a few headstone photos in my collection including one who possibly succumbed to his injuries early 1945

    Hi Clive,
    Had a dig around some old newspaper relating to the above incident.
    The Birmingham Post dated Wednesday 11th November 1942 had a interesting snippet, (see below) concerning an artillery exchange carried out just before midnight. ( note, it could be a different Bty from 218.) there wasn't any casualties reported to confirm it.
