    Hi,

Thanks for posting this information. The post WW2 application form (obtained at the time from any Post Office) is the nearest thing to a WW1 medal roll equivalent for WW2. I have my late father’s medals but have submitted a FOI as suggested.

Thanks but I can’t use the link as I’m not a member of Ancestry atm.

Would you be able to post the document you received please?

    Excellent. Thanks very much.

I’m familiar with the “blank” form but interesting to see how Medal Office processed the application and endorsed the number of medals and date of issue.

I wonder how long it will be before Ancestry or FMP get hold of them and monetise them. You used to be able to obtain the POW Index cards in WO416 under FOI but TNA have now monetised that resource.

    EDIT TO ADD

I’ve just had an acknowledgement from MOD giving an estimated delivery date of the application form in mid January 2024.

    Hi,

I’ve had a speedy reply from MOD today stating that they can’t find my father’s WW2 Campaign Medal Application form and signposting me to U.K. National Archives where they say the forms are held within the CS20 series of documents.

I’ll apply for another relatives application form in the New Year.
