I am looking for any information please on - 3253030 W/S/SG CHARLES LANGRISH PARACHUTE REGIMENT AAC. ENLISTED INTIALLY I THNK IN CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES) 01/07/1940 Thank You Bob
Hi Bob One thing you really need to do if you havent is to obtain his service records as they are the skeleton you need after which you can fill in the gaps, the link is - Request records of deceased service personnel TD
As TD stated get the service records Army Number to check: The army number: 3253030 indicates that the soldier's original unit or date joined was: "Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)" http://www.corpsofmilitarypolice.org/tools/armynumber?query=3253030
Have you got his service records? If not, as per TD, it's the only way to go. What information do you have at present and where have you looked?
Thank you all. I have taken this on on behalf of an elderly neighbour and wondered what I could find ou without the expense of a service record search. I will check wih him about other nformation Robert
You may find something here - https://www.paradata.org.uk/, you still need to join but I dont know if it costs or not, or the amount of detail they may hold on the subject. TD
Your neighbor was on a parachute course at Ringway between 30/4/44 and 13/5/44 at that stage he was part of an Airborne Holding Unit waiting his posting to a battalion. Hope this helps Arnhem
Hi. Judging by that reply you can tell when an individual was on a jump course based on their service number? Alex.
Thank you this is beginning to come together. My friend says there was the family story about him preparing for Operation Market Garden in a night drop, he broke his leg and the Sergeant that replaced him was killed. Also I know he was in the Faroe Islands too, as he spoke of the Northern Lights. Apparently he was an instructor too and used to kick them out of the plane! X Sent from my iPhone
My eyes neglected to tell me they’ve seen his name at the top of the page!! If I give you a name and number would you be able to help with jump course dates? Alex.
