I am trying to research the above named Roderick Donald Perkins who served with the SRY from April 1940. On his Tracer Card (courtesy of the Tank Museum) he is shown as "XII/21AG". I understand this indicates that he was evacuated on medical grounds behind RAP.

I can find no trace of him being wounded so I am guessing that he was taken ill and then returned to the SRY on 24 October 1944 .

Donaldwas employed a a gamekeeper at the Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire and his name appears many times in the local papers for dealing with local poachers!!

If anyone has any information on him I would be delighted to hear from them.

    Thanks Steve,

I am currently waiting for the records of a 13/15th Hussars MM winner. So far the wait has been 8 months!!

I have sent for the death certificate for Mr Perkins as he died in 1987. Once this arrives, I will be applying for his papers.

I have just received the records for the MM winner, who served a total of 33 days in Europe before being wounded and receiving his award!

That’s good news. If you need any help interpreting his papers just ask.
