Hello K, You should send to Glasgow for your father's service records. There is a long wait up to a year, so in the meantime some of us here will try to help you. Here is a snippet taken from file WO 392/21, Imnperial Prisoners of War In Italy, held in the Naitonal Archives, Kew, which shows the last camp a prisoner of war was known to have been held in as of August 1943. Your father has no camp next to his name. This signifies that he was no longer in one of the main camps but had been transferred to a work camp. Most work camps came into operation in the spring of 1943 and were in northern Italy. Where did you get the information about PG 53 Macerata from? Most men from the Cameron HIghlanders who were held prisoner in Italy were captured at Tobruk on 21 JUne 1942. . File WO 361/1000 lists the Camerons missing after this battle - I have just one page but not, unfortunately, the one you need. Vitellino
As Vitellino states, given the date on the Missing Casualty list he was with 2nd Battalion Camerons at Tobruk.
