I am trying to find any details relating to the 3rd Battalion on 28/04/1943 when Guardsman John Gravell is listed as having been killed. Any assistance you can give with this (or direction you can point me in) would be greatly appreciated as I have drawn a complete blank.
Hi, Welcome to the forum. As this is a Salerno topic you might get a better response if you query was posted in a standalone topic as it concerns a casualty from Tunisia. I’ll ask a Mod to create a new topic I see he is buried in Enfidaville Cemetery per CWGC - https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2104184/john-faulkner-gravell/ The official regimental history lists him as a 3rd CG casualty 28th April 1943. Perhaps he was killed in the shelling mentioned in the official history that accounted for Drill Sgt Masterman? The same publication doesn’t describe any offensive activity taking place on that day. I haven’t had sight of the official casualty list as that will confirm the type of casualty. The CG records available on find my past may also assist. 2 screen prints of pages from the online official history attached. Good Luck Steve
