Hello, does anyone have copies of (or a link to) the war diary of the 44th Bn/Royal Tank Regiment for the month of March 1945? And if so, would there be chance to send it to me? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you! Canadian paratrooper posing with the crew of a DD-tank of 44 RTR after the Rhine crossing. This photo was taken by a Canadian photographer on March 25th in the hamlet of Bergerfurth.
I have a copy of the regimental history: Anon. A History of the 44th Royal Tank Regiment in the War 1939-45. Brighton: 44th R.T.R. Association, 1966. If you would like a copy of the March 1945 activities from this, I can post it.
Hello dryan67, thank you for the friendly response and your offer - I would certainly like to take a look at the relevant pages of the regimental history. Basically, I am interested in the training with DD-tanks prior to the Rhine crossing and the actual crossing and subsequent actions until March 27... With best regards! t
I will copy those pages and post them if they are not many or I will PM you with a link to download if there are too many.
I wonder, Would there by any chance be a reference to a Trooper William Wickham in there? All the best, Rm. 7961375 - Trooper WILLIAM GEORGE JOHN WICKHAM - Casualty Details | CWGC With... Alex. Would you mind giving me a link the right page on the Pegasus Archive for the 44 RTR War Diary. I am struggling to find it. Regards Frank
Sure - here it is: 44th Battalion The Royal Tank Regiment It is further down on the list under "Second Army" Best Alex
Good morning, Do you have a PDF link for the book that you would be willing to send? I am trying to find out what troop Charles David Walter Arsenault was in. He was in C Squadron and won the MC in 1945. He destroyed a Panther in Holland 1944.
Sorry. All I have is a Xeroxed copy of the book. I will take a look and see if there is anything that would connect Charles David Walter Arsenault to a particular troop or squadron. Finding this out from a regimental history is rare but possible. I will get back to you. David
Sorry, there was no mention of Charles Arsenault in the regimental history during the period in 1944 in Holland..
