Looking for information on the 44th Recce once attached to 56th Div. Specifically what they were doing in April-May 43 and what vehicles they were equipped with at that time. I am aware they were around Enfidaville, but what exactly were they doing? Were they employed in the traditional Recce role considering the terrain? I am currently researching the 56th Div actions around Enfidaville which can be difficult to pin down at times. 169 Queens Brigade had a decent history of the time. Thank you in advance. Chris
Found this site that helped answer most of my questions. I wonder if there are any photos of them in Tunisia or Egypt in 43. I have searched IWM but the search term 44 Recce brings up very little that actually has to do with 44 Recce.
Have you looked at this site, has diaries for the period? 44 Recce - 44th Reconnaissance Regiment. (anidea.co.uk) Also information in the journals: Reconnaissance Journal
