My grandfather was with the 457th AAA AW that land on D-Day D+1 at Ohma Beach. My dad and I are trying to find out any and more information about the unit and what they did as a whole. I understand that there is not enough information out there about the Units themselves, but it would be great to find more information. Since his passing about two years ago-He told us some things about what happened and his buddies at that time.

We really don't have a true idea of the things that he and others had to endure to keep this country free. I wish I could have learned more about his unit and how they bonded, laughed and cried.

Myself and father both served, but not in the way that our fathers and grandfathers had to. So, please if anybody has any information on the above unit I would love to hear from you.

Heath Hand, if you are still on this forum I would love to hear from you. My father was also with the 457th. I have a book written by the battalion commander Lt Col George R Clemens which details the battalion history. My dad was given this book at wars end and I believe it may list your grandfather.

    Hut Two Holky,

Heath Hand has not logged on here since the opening post. Nor does his "name" appear on our sister site.

Nor a thread on the 457 / 457th AAA AW Bn.
