    Hi

Thanks so much for the photo's. Did you know John McKay or can you remember anything? He was shot in elbow and ankle but i don't know where it happened. Just wondering if you knew anything about him.

    Thanks

    Dear Wtid 45,

I appreciate the difference. Please excuse me for the misunderstanding. One of the many disadvantages of not being a native speaker I am afraid. Nevertheless I trust that you will find the Roll of Honour of some interest.

Marine Billy Atherton, killed on 30th June 1944, was an old boy of Bury Grammar School, Lancashire. We shall be laying a wreath on his grave at Ranville on our 2013 school battlefields tour to Normandy.

Hi Jolly, not a problem the roll of honor is very useful and if anyone looks up 46 RM then that info is now in situ, i just need to pin down this name I'm after as it's bugging the hell out of me due to the guy im searching for was in places that don't tie into the activities of 46.

    Hi Allison!
My name is Keith Taylor and my father Eric served in the 46th from normandy to the Baltic. At the moment I am collecting material and doing much research into my father's military life. I have amassed a lot of info about the 46th and would if you are interested i can send you many interesting facts. For instance your father was wounded at Dunkirk or to be exact whilst they were patrolling at Bray Dunes. This happened on the 27th Sept. 1944.
Allison if you could tell me what happened after his wound or you have pictures of him I would be very interested.

Hi, The photo you posted is great thanks, but is there any way I could get a copy of it as I've tried to download it and it splits it in the middle onto 2 pages and is faint. Is there anywhere I could get a copy please. Thanks, Allison 58

I have a number of royal marines that showed up in the Rennes Military Hospital after they were captured in June 1944. Can anyone verify them as part of 46 Commando, full name and which troop?

    PO X.111109 Smith, John Alexander
    PVT CH/X.105642 Charlwood, Harry
    PVT CH/X.105643 Coford, A. E.
    PVT PO/X.4854 Kohler, Reg D.

    Hi Dale,
I can tell you definitely H. Charlwood, A. Coford, and Reg Kohler were all members of the 46th RMC and were captured at Rots 11th June 1944. My dad was involved in this battle and I can tell you how they were taken prisoner. I have pictures of the captivity. I'm writing a book about this battle so would like to hear from you. Can't find John Smith in B Troop and not even on the nominal roll so he wasn't in the 46 RMC.

I found John Alexander Smith PO/X.111109 in Royal Marine 41 Commando. He died at Rennes 22 June from wounds suffered after amputation of right leg.

Recently started researching 46 RM Commando focused on their Normandy and Reichswald efforts. I watched an interview available on YouTube posted 6 yrs ago today. This individual served with the 47 RM Commando and he states that they went to Burma first then left and went up into Holland. He spoke of it as if they did not spend much time there.
