    If you are interested you may look up my first post, as my father was directly involved and awarded an MBE - POW Darlington 2 Most Successful Rescue of POWs. None of the SA records reflect that my father was awarded the MBE and there is very little information on Darlington 2 - just a few extracts here and there.

    I wrote aboout your father and his cousin Woods in my book The Long Trail Home. Allied Prisoners of War in Umbria 1943-4', which I self-published through Lulu.com. (Sorry, I can't get the link to work - the website is www.lulu.com) I wish I had found your other post, in which you give his diary extract, before the book had gone to print.

    Incidentally the other camp from which he escaped was PG 77 at PIssignano, not PAssignano, which is a town on Lake Trasimeno. If I do another edition I will include more about him and will certainly put in a photograph - with your permission, of course,
