    Hi guys,
I would like to find the past of this soldier:
229860 Lt Charles Isaac Margerrison from the Royal Artillery.

Is it possible to find his regiment and division ? and his history in this?

Have a nice day all the best.

It is really that complicated my friend. WW2 records are still subject to confidentiality so the only way to get the full picture of his service is to make an official application to the Ministry of Defence.
Things are changing but not very quickly. If you are not personally related you will not get the full picture.
Some on here may be able to assist you or you might find limited information on Genealogy sites like Ancestry or Find My Past.
Where or how did you find out that he was in the 50th Division, that might generate a few responses from members.
    Good luck!

I find he was in the 50th division from his jacket with the divisional patch

I'd seen that jacket and bits for sale before and in general the items looked OK, one thing I noticed was the jacket was 1945 dated but 50 Div had been reduced to reserve and the RA units transferred out - although there may have been some elements that remained as part of the training team, the Division would have seen lots of chopping and changing so if he was with them 1945 or later he may have been with someone else before. The jacket also looks to have gone from 1 to 3 pips (based on the discoloration of only 1 pip on each shoulder) so seems to be configured to match his 1947 promotion (based on Uncle Targets London Gazette post)

Sorry Derfass, I took the post down as AB64 posted just before me saying the jacket was dated 1945 after the units had all left the Division. If you want a brief history of 50 Divisions Artillery Regiments you can find the all on my site - RA39-45 in the Unit pages. Do you want me to re-post the list?
