Yes it was, the photos that have been shared are wonderful aren't they. One of the families of the lads (Don Morrison) shared with me some writings Don did in his later years including his time in the Ski Battalion. PM your email. I can send you a copy if you like.

I think all these goingsabout of the british and french 'volunteers' is a joke.
Regrettably the fact that the brave knights sworn to fight communism never helped Finns during the war with a single soldier, gun or a bullet.
I'd get it if there would have been provisions, medical supplies, guns and material help being shipped to the lone nation of Finland fighting
    against this massive totalitarian monster.
Quite the contrary; Britain and USA went over themselves to help the SOVIETS. If you really stop to think about it you understand what a
cowardly unholy alliance these powerful countries and their leaders amounted to.
The superbly stronger countries then decided to attack an already overstrained Germany in great numbers and massive war technology. Finland is the only country who should celebrate victory. The action of these superpowers is simply a historical embarrassment.
It is just too obvious that Finland may have saved the whole Europe from communist invasion through the wealthy and highly developed scandinavia. Sweden
is simply unworthy of any comment except the one that clarifies the winner of the contest of which nation in WWII was the most cowardly and miserable in its
display of an ostrich. The former big brother of the state of Sweden-Finland chose to leave its closest relative among nations and tribes alone against the strongest
    invading superpower in the world.
All discussion about the WWII is futile without mentioning the stubborn fight of Finns and the practical vanquish of the greatest enemy of the free world ever.

Can't see how they can celebrate victory when Finland lost all this territory.
