    Hi
Has anyone any info on the above unit? My Uncle served with this unit out in the Western Desert and in Italy and I have his Soldiers Release book dated 18/4/1946 at Villa Vicentina Italy.

    Thanks
    Bob

Have you searched the National Archeives for this Unit? could you please post more information so we can help you research, also try and get the next of kin if it is not you to apply for his service records they will give you more detail.
They are available from MOD Glasgow and cost around £30.00 be warned the waiting time is 9 to 12 months .

    Hi Oldman
I havn't yet tried the NA for these records but I am his next of kin I suppose as his wife has died and they have no children. Most of my family served during the war in various units and another Uncle died in France after d-day. I have a large collection of medals and paperwork relating to my family but now they are all gone, it is hard to get the details of their service life etc. How I wished I had asked more question when they were alive.
Here are may family members who's records I need to get.
    My Dad Merchant Navy
    William Lee RAOC then REME
    Henry Lee RASC
    Albert Lee 8th Rifle Brigade
    Marjory Lee ATS
    William Monk Royal Navy
    Albert Rand 12th Devonshire Regiment

I know a lot about Albert Lee and have visited his grave in Normandy a few times and albert Rand was in a glider that landed on D-Day but the others are more difficult. I know than Henry Lee was in the First Army in Africa and Italy and William Lee was in the 8th Army. I have a newspaper cutting that says they met in the desert by chance on Christmas Day but little else is known.

Many thanks for your reply anyway

RASC covered a lot of units and regts during the war to be able to move forward you need a unit number.
