Jim, he escaped and was recaptured twice to my knowledge. It would be wonderful to hear what that paragraph says.

I've done my best with translations on this 'though it doesn't seem to throw up anything specifically relating to my dad, rather it seems that he was just an example of an escapee POW, and the protocols to follow. I will eventually get the whole document professionally translated for the wider picture. I am indebted to all of you lovely people that took the time to find out any information for me.

Adm 199, when you say they are listed as in Stalag 20B, is this Marienberg or Elbing do you know?

    Hello all,
I posted here 10 years ago, looking for information on my father Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. I now have a bit more information and would be very grateful for anything that others might know. His name was John Gerald Melaugh, service no. 6980447, Lance Corporal. He was captured on the 27th May 1940 at Ypres and taken to Stalag XXA where he filled out a capture card on 22.06.1940. His POW no. was 12427. For some reason he gave his date of birth as 16.05.1919 when in fact it was 16.05.21. Ive been told he was transferred to Stalag XXB on 01.11.1940 and then to Stalag 111A on 23.05.1944. To my knowledge he escaped twice and was recaptured. I hope some of you can provide further details, thank you in advance.
