    Peter.

In case you were not aware, 3 KOH were part of the independent 9th Armoured Brigade - they supported any Infantry Division as the situation dictated. During their time in Italy, they variously supported 78 British Infantry Division, 4 Indian Infantry Division and 10 Indian Infantry Division.

Each time that they were allocated to an Infantry Division, the Regt would have supported an Infantry Brigade. Each Sqn within 3 KOH would have been allocated to an Infantry Battalion within that Infantry Brigade. This ensured that the infantry could always count on armoured support - in this case for 3 KOH, they could count on Shermans.

    Regards

    Frank

    Hi Pete,
I have also recently joined the forum looking for any references/photos of my Grandfather George Good who served in 3rd KOH and was killed at El Alamein. Dee

Hi Maisiefosse. Just wondering if you’ve come across any mention of a Sgt George Good in your fathers diaries? You’re so lucky to have them and I’m sure it will bring you closer to him as you transcribe them. Kind regards, Dee
