    "A" Squadron, 13/18th Hussars
    16 September 1944 - Same position. Organised trips to BRUSSELS and LOUVAIN.

    October 1944 - Rest camp established at Abbaye de Mont-César [a Benedictine abbey].

    Original wartime caption: Field Marshal Montgomery talking to the crowd who surrounded his car in Louvain outside the Town Hall. In 1940 Louvain was the front line of the 3rd Div.in their attempt to stop the German Blitzkrieg. The Div. was at that time commanded by the Field Marshal.

    Unedited and uncensored newsreel rushes, partly filmed with sound, showing the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) advancing into Belgium to occupy the Dyle Line east of Brussels at the start of the German 'Blitzkrieg' offensive in western Europe and defending the city of Louvain as Belgian refugees flee the fighting.

    12th October 1944 - Information received that 8 Armd Bde had arranged and organised a Rest Camp at LOUVAIN, Abbe du Mont Cesar without previous consultation with S.M.O.. A demand was made for 1 Medical Officer, 1 Nursing Orderly and 1 Ambulance Car to be attached to this camp. No details or information of existing or required sanitary or other health arrangements supplied.
    Capt. Kraus detailed.

    22nd October 1944 - 1 Officers 5 O.Rs. left for leave camp at ANTWERP 10 O.Rs. to leave camp at LOUVAIN. 2 Officers 36 O.Rs. returned from leave camp LOUVAIN.
