    Jasper,

Welcome. I recommend you check each unit on: Royal Artillery in World War 2 - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 and New website - britisharmyingermany.com each is the work of members here.

The RA became a corps with a million plus members, so individuals rarely appear in online research - unless they got a medal, wounded and died.

An online search with for e.g. "XXth Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment" site:ww2talk.com should identify threads here. You can try by dropping the 'th' and use "HAA" instead. I did this search sometime ago and found: There is very little on XX / XXth HAA and nowt on 194 Battery.

You could add the service records (each sheet probably at a time, details on PM next) for the experts to add what they can.

Please add your subject's full name and service number here. We often have new members arrive having encountered the site in their online searching.

A minor point. No great expert on the RA but your interpretation of XIB feels off. I'd look at whether something like X(i)(b) makes sense.

I thought I had seen such a reference in the X List thread but can't seem to find it now.

    Jasper,

Never seen the suffix CR on a Tracer Card. Caveat: my knowledge is limited of tracer cards. I expect it is a basic training course intake / class.

Now looked at the second document and CR is Coast Regiment!

So 16th Field Training Regt,, to 262 Coast Battery, 523 Coast Regt., to 556 Coast Regt. Check them out on: Royal Artillery in World War 2 - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 Derek Barton, the author, has spent time on assembling info on the coastal regiments.
