Were you able to obtain the price for a copy the 9th DLI War Diary, including Appendices/attachments, for June 1944, Paul?

Hi Steve, unfortunately i was unable to get there myself but a pal of mine went and asked one of the staff to copy the diary for me but to date nothing has arrived , i'll try and pop in this week to get a copy done.

Hello - I wondered whether the folk on this thread were able to secure a digital copy of the 9th DLI WD for June 1944? If so I would be most grateful if this might be available for purchase or forwarding on. I am visiting Normandy in two weeks and would like to track the battalion movements as part of some research we are doing.

    Many thanks,
    M

Have you seen Post 9? It has something.

As you have not posted enough to use the 'Start a Conversation' (Private Message) I will drop PaulE an alert message. He was logged in a few days ago and may have an alert on this thread.

Thanks David that is very helpful. Appreciated. Whilst I have the top level text from the June war diary I am curious to see if there are any annex documents or attachments that supports the war diary narrative.

I have not seen any Appendices to the June 9 DLI WD other than the Pre D Day Op Orders etc , i suspect there will be some but they are probably only available at Kew.

Hi Paul, I'm looking into the history of my Uncle, trying to validate some of the stories he told me as a lad, and would very much like to get hold of a copy of the 9 DLI War Diary from D Day onwards. Would you have a copy of this please? I would love to see it. Many thanks.

Quite a few 9th DLI are on Ancestry.

As Paul stated he believes the appendices (if they survive) are at Kew ,although the month of June from the copies I have seen are missing . The `June` Diary did make an appearance on a website a few years ago but the site is locked now and I believe the only viewing is through `THE WAYBACK MACHINE` (There`s a thread on it somewhere here )

The owner of that site Stewart Coupar is also a member here .

There`s quite a few members offer a copy service and I believe Drew may already have a copy ready to send out at very cheap rates . Failing that Harry Moses book The Gateshead Gurkhas is a good read. There`s other websites to consult too.

    Good Luck
