My dad William Wood was a driver signaller landed on June the 6th on Sword Beach. It would be great to hear from anyone within the regiment who might have served with him or whose fathers might have known him.

Hi, I have just signed up to this forum. My father was with 17/43 Battery also of 7th Field Regiment. I have extensive records of the Battery. But also a history of 7th Field Regiment from D-Day until the end. There are many mentions of 9 Bty such as "27 September 1944: One tp of 9 Bty had the unique experience of going forward with infantry cover into the 'No Man's Land' between Asten and Meijel to engage targets out of range in their normal position. The excursion was carried out without accident. The infantry escort were carried back on the vehicles - a proceeding which pleased everyone. The Adjt undoubtably had the most unpleasant experience when he observed the shoot from the Air OP."
