Ive been researching local history of the Carpenders Park area of Watford for many years. At the outbreak of WW2 the military requisitioned a mansion called Highfield in Oxhey Lane. It became officers accomodation for nearby Glenthorne Pyles actual HQ.
Highfield was staffed mainly by ATS girls who carried out signalling duties from nissen huts in the grounds - there was a radar mat in the field opposite.
Any ideas where I could pick up any more info on Highfield and its use by the ATS. They remained there till the mid 1950's - the house was subsequently demolished for USAF military housing.
