Hello, thanks for letting me join. I am researching my late fathers RAF service as wireless operator during WW11 and have come across the following details regarding Sir W.Mitchell and am hoping if anyone can supply more info? I have come across earlier posts (2009) by Martin Elliget and "Spidge" but they don't show what I need. My fathers log books and notes say he flew with pilot F/Lt Hankins (later Sqdn/Ldr) in a Dominie No.X7372 as the private crew for Sir.William from 14/8/41 to 29/10/41 when he was Inspector General being based at RAF Abbotsinch (Station Flight). I have found from a Military History Forum that Sir.William at that time was responsible for over-seeing the distribution/instalation of CH Radar stations in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland as "temporary work" prior to his retirement. This is bourn out by the many flights made shown in the log book which also lists quite a few individual names (possibly related to radar?). I cannot find any info on this so would details have been clasified as secret?
