Flyer received 15/11/14 from ATB (attached to post) stating that their magazines will no longer will be available from W.H.Smith and will be de-listed from the retailer outlet.

This due to a large up front payment requirement from Smiths to stock the magazines which in turn would push up the cost of ATB magazines.
The magazines will still be available directly from ATB or independent newsagents.

    Also

A new book published February 2015.
The Defeat of Germany Then and Now 544 pages 1500 illustrations.

Nearly 400 communiques were released by SHAEF and theses are reproduced in the book.

The Market Garden books are impressive! I highly recommend them.

Jonathan Ball It's a way of life.

I wouldn't mind a BEF 1940 special and I'm surprised there isn't one already given the amount of really good 'then and now' photos I've seen on this forum.

I've asked for the Desert War ATB Special for Xmas. Judging by the reviews it's to the normal high standards?

There is the Blitzkreig in the West edition but only a small proportion of the book focus's on the BEF. I reckon with a bit of work (and help from the forum) they could put a dam fine BEF book together :D

Just had a look at my Desert War copy to remind myself, yes it is quite good, a higher than normal amount of dead soldiers in it though.

Looking forward to The Defeat of Germany due in February next year.It should be a very interesting publication.

As regards the retailing of the ATB magazines,it appears that W H Smiths are carrying out what is a legalised enforced kickback practice from their suppliers.Personally,I gave up buying the magazine from Smiths many years ago as the source was unreliable and since then I have taken the magazine by annual subscription, a simple procedure,I might say.

Other businesses have predicted profits based on this practice which have not been returned and one in the past used a similar practice in creative accounting as a basis for taking executive bonuses.

ATB 166 is a Special Issue on Stalingrad...a good account of the Russians to hold on and finally encircled Von Paulas's 6th Army.We tend to think of Stalingrad's winter weather but in summer, the ambient temperature can reach the middle forties centigrade.

I picked this up today, for the price of £30 as new in Oxfam, I looked twice when I saw it on the shelf as I did not recognise the cover as a ATB book I knew, further investigation revealed it had only come out this month! So I reckon £30 well spent. The camps have always held an interest for me due to not only those who had the will to survive but also the liberation and after. The ARB airfield books don't really work for me , too much to cover to be honest.
The NDC book is a steal at £30 , great find in a charity shop so soon after publication.

I have all the WW-2 related books as well as the one for The Falklands War which is very good.
I'd like to see one based on Norway. With the invasion in 1940, the various Commando raids, the Kriegsmarine presence and the German retreat from Lapland I think it would be a good area to cover.
